1. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing this website, creating an account, submitting an enquiry or registration, or using an LASL programme, assessment, platform, or service, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you act for an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to act on its behalf.
Additional written terms in an accepted proposal, quotation, registration confirmation, invoice, learning-platform notice, or programme document also apply. If there is a conflict, the specifically agreed written terms take priority for that service.
2. Website information
Website content is provided for general information about LASL and its services. We take reasonable care to keep it accurate, but programme dates, facilitators, locations, fees, entry requirements, availability, and content may change. Information on the website is not professional, legal, financial, medical, safety, or regulatory advice for a particular situation.
3. Registration, confirmation, and fees
- An enquiry or submitted form does not by itself guarantee admission, a place, certification, or acceptance of a consultancy engagement.
- A booking becomes confirmed when LASL issues confirmation and any required payment, purchase order, documentation, or eligibility evidence has been received.
- Fees, taxes, instalment dates, and included items will be stated on the relevant page, quotation, invoice, or confirmation. You are responsible for paying amounts by the due date.
- Published fees may be corrected or changed before a booking is confirmed. LASL will not change an already confirmed fee except where the agreed terms or law permit it.
- Any transfer, cancellation, postponement, or refund is subject to the written conditions communicated for the relevant programme or service. Where no separate conditions are supplied, contact LASL promptly before the start date; eligibility for a refund or transfer will depend on costs already committed and applicable law.
4. Programme and service delivery
LASL may reasonably update course content, learning materials, schedules, delivery methods, venues, facilitators, or assessment arrangements to maintain quality, safety, availability, or regulatory alignment. If a material change affects a confirmed participant, LASL will provide reasonable notice and an appropriate alternative where practicable.
LASL may postpone or cancel delivery due to insufficient enrolment, facilitator unavailability, venue or technology failure, public-health or safety concerns, government action, severe weather, civil disruption, or another event beyond reasonable control. Our responsibility in that situation will be limited to the remedy communicated for the affected booking, subject to applicable law.
5. Learner and user responsibilities
You agree to:
- provide accurate, current, and complete registration and assessment information;
- meet stated prerequisites and disclose relevant accessibility or support needs in reasonable time;
- attend and participate as required, follow safety and conduct instructions, and treat others respectfully;
- keep account credentials confidential and notify LASL promptly of suspected unauthorised access;
- submit your own work, properly acknowledge sources, and not cheat, impersonate another person, falsify evidence, or interfere with an assessment; and
- use learning platforms, materials, and communication channels only for legitimate educational or professional purposes.
LASL may suspend access, remove a participant, invalidate an assessment attempt, or withhold an award where there is serious misconduct, non-payment, unsafe behaviour, academic dishonesty, or a breach of these terms. Any action will be proportionate and subject to applicable contractual or legal rights.
6. Assessments and certificates
Registration or attendance does not guarantee successful completion or certification. Awards are subject to the published or communicated attendance, assignment, assessment, conduct, payment, and verification requirements. LASL may correct administrative errors and may investigate, suspend, or revoke an award obtained through fraud, impersonation, falsified evidence, or serious assessment misconduct.
Certificate-validation results confirm only the information held in LASL records at the time of the enquiry. Verification must not be altered or presented misleadingly.
7. Corporate training, consultancy, and assessments
The scope, deliverables, dependencies, access requirements, confidentiality arrangements, fees, and acceptance criteria for organisational services will be defined in a proposal, quotation, statement of work, or other written agreement. The client remains responsible for management decisions, legal compliance, workplace controls, implementation, and the accuracy of information supplied to LASL.
Unless specifically agreed in writing, recommendations and assessment outputs do not guarantee a particular commercial, regulatory, certification, safety, or operational result.
8. Intellectual property and learning materials
Unless otherwise stated, the website, LASL branding, course designs, videos, assessments, documents, graphics, tools, and learning materials are owned by or licensed to LASL and are protected by applicable intellectual-property law.
You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use supplied materials for your own learning or the internally agreed organisational purpose. You must not copy, publish, sell, sublicense, record, distribute, upload, reverse engineer, remove notices from, or create competing materials from LASL content without prior written permission, except where law expressly permits it.
You retain ownership of original material you submit. You grant LASL the limited permission needed to host, review, assess, reproduce, and retain it for delivering the service, maintaining academic integrity, and meeting legal or regulatory requirements.
9. Acceptable website and platform use
You must not misuse LASL systems, attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious code, scrape or overload services, bypass security, collect other users’ information, upload unlawful or infringing content, or use the website in a way that harms LASL, another person, or the availability of the service.
We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect users, systems, assessment integrity, or legal rights.
10. Third-party services and links
The website may link to or embed independent services such as the eLearning platform, examination portal, payment services, social networks, video providers, maps, partner institutions, or external resources. LASL does not control those services and is not responsible for their availability, content, security, or separate terms. Review the provider’s terms and privacy policy before use.
11. Warranties and limitation of liability
LASL will provide its services with reasonable care and skill. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that the website will always be uninterrupted or error-free, or that general information will meet every user’s particular requirements.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that protection, LASL will not be responsible for indirect or consequential loss, loss caused by inaccurate information supplied by a user or client, unauthorised account use, third-party services, or a failure outside LASL’s reasonable control. Any liability relating to a paid service will be governed by its specific agreement and applicable law.
12. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal data is described in the LASL Privacy Policy. By supplying another person’s information, you confirm that you are authorised to do so and have provided any required notice.
13. Changes and severability
We may revise these terms when our services or legal obligations change. Updated terms will be published here with a revised date and apply from publication, except where separate agreed terms govern an existing booking. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka. The parties should first try in good faith to resolve a concern directly. If it cannot be resolved, the courts of Sri Lanka will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights or dispute process under applicable law.
